BUT WAIT 🛑

If you’ve tried getting organized in the past and only end up overwhelmed and frustrated… this might be why!

Did you know that there is actually a process that you need to walk through in order to go from chaos to order? And the first two steps in this process are ones that most people would rather skip.

In our 👋🏻 step process the O and R (yep our process spells out ORDER!) are integral to achieving that ‘after’ that we all so desperately want! So without further ado- here are the two steps that will help you hone in and see more success in organizing:

1️⃣ O is for Observe - Genuinely look at your space with curiosity and ask the hard questions. What isn’t working? Why isn’t it working? How could you improve the functionality of the space? What is working? What could you enhance? The learnings from this observation will help you better organize the space and improve the space’s functioning.

2️⃣ R is for Remove - This might be one of the hardest steps when you’re DIYimg organization. To truly organize and make the most impact you MUST remove everything from the space. If it’s a junk drawer, empty it all out. If it’s a pantry, empty it all out. If it’s a garage, empty it all out! You get the drill now 😂 Why? Because if you don’t empty the space - it’s impossible to get all of the items sorted and to create optimal categories that will help you find things and maintain the space better in the long run. Sure - it takes longer to empty the space but it’s well worth the time investment! Trust us ❤️

JUST SAY NO 🛑

Sure you’re dying to get organized but don’t do fall into the trap of buying all the pretty bins, baskets, & accessories just yet. We promise you and your wallet will thank us 😉

Before you can even think about organizing - there’s some hard work you have to get thru. It’s not sexy or pretty but it is 💯 essential. It’s time to declutter. And we’re coming at you with a challenge to get the ball rolling 💪🏻

1️⃣ Commit to 10 and get clear on your goal. Your goal is to work for 10 minutes and you want to eliminate anything that is broken, no longer needed, expired, etc. Envision the peace you want to experience in your home by not being overwhelmed with unnecessary things and clutter.
2️⃣ Start small. Begin with a bathroom, small linen closet, or kids game closet. Go for that easy win without feeling overwhelmed by tackling a larger space.
3️⃣ Release the guilt of letting things go. Financial guilt, sentimental guilt and even worries of regret are normal BUT living in a state of disorder due to holding on to too much isn’t worth those feelings.
4️⃣ Set the timer and let’s go! When your ten minutes is up celebrate your progress and then physically remove the items you are purging. No lingering piles - they go directly in to the trash or a donate bin. And then schedule a time to do another 10! Consistency is 🔑

MYTH BUSTED 💣

I know it’s shocking but this is something we’ve heard ALL the time! I just don’t have the organization gene. I’m naturally disorganized. There’s no way I could be organized…

But here’s the reality ➡️ Organization is a skill that CAN be learned! Sure some people come by it naturally BUT many more don’t. Let’s relate this back to our kids, did they just jump on a bike and go? Nope. There were hard days of working on balance, coordination, stopping, and paying attention to their surroundings. But with time and practice they got the hang of it 💪🏻 The same is true of organization and we’re here to help you learn it!

We’ll be back every day this week with 4️⃣ key learnings you can practice in less than 10 minutes a day to work those organizing muscles to help bring you more calm & less chaos! Who can use more of this in your life RIGHT NOW?

PS - I’m sharing this from a place of understanding as I (Nikki) do not come by organization easily. It’s been a long road to add order to my life and I’m genuinely passionate about sharing how and why I see the value and the specific steps it took to get there ❤️

Research has confirmed that being a mother is equivalent to working 9️⃣8️⃣ hours a week. So if you’re tired, overwhelmed, and can’t find enough hours in the day that might be why! This is why it is 💯 acceptable to ask for help and get comfortable with working smarter not harder.

Here’s 3️⃣ reasons why we love to get @krogerco to deliver groceries right to our door:

1️⃣ Save time: It’s a no brainer but the time savings can’t be beat! Reshop from previous purchases to make getting your weekly groceries a 🫰
2️⃣ Save money: No impulse buys. And these prices can’t be beat! I can usually get an organic item from Kroger for the same price as the regular items in our local stores.
3️⃣ Reduce your mental load: Take this task off your to-do list be scheduling up to a week in advance AND even choose the time that works best for you 👏🏻

Sure you think you’re saving by buying organizing products from our fave discount home stores BUT it might not be the best decision in the long run. Picture this - you’re buying clear bins to use in your pantry. You manage to find two sets of the 6 pack bins that are the same (this alone is a huge accomplishment lol) You head home excited to start the process only to find that you actually needed 16 clear bins. Now what?! More time spent heading back to the store AND good luck finding those same bins 🤦🏼‍♀️ Now you’re back at square one & feeling completely defeated 😞

If you’re dead set on shopping there, here’s a few tips to save your time & money:
1️⃣ Measure your space in advance and know exactly what you need. If you’re unsure, ALWAYS buy more knowing that you can return what you don’t need.
2️⃣ Do your research. Several of the bins on this aisle are the exact same price as ones that are permanently stocked at @target @walmart and @ikeausa BUT those discount tags make you think you’re getting a steal so you feel inclined to buy.
3️⃣ Items we do buy here: decor items (duh), velvet hangers, acrylic turntables, large wicker baskets.
